Hear from Lindsey

Hi! My name is Lindsey Brown and I am a nurse practitioner, the only one at Apex, in fact. You may notice my credentials, FNP-C, and think, what does that mean?

I received my master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from Herzing University in 2017 and I am board certified (C) through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. I graduated from the University of Central Missouri with my bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2010 and have been working in the perioperative field since then, although I have worked in the healthcare field since 2002.

I truly enjoy and love caring for others and consider myself to be a very empathetic, patient, and caring person. I always tell people that I have the best job in the world, because that’s truly how I feel. Not many people can say that.

I am extremely honored to work alongside Dr. McCabe every day. We practice general orthopedic surgery as well as sports medicine, treating many athletes of various skill levels, from very young beginners to professionals. We make a great team in clinic and in surgery. I see patients in the clinic for injections, acute injuries, chronic problems, new problems, pre-operative appointments, and post-operative visits at the Overland Park, KS and Belton, MO offices.

I am also fortunate enough to first-assist Dr. McCabe in every surgery whether it’s at one of the three hospitals or the three surgery centers where we operate. Surgery is and always has been my passion as a nurse. I am the sideline medical provider for all Grandview High School football home games and will frequently volunteer my time to help with sports physicals for numerous high schools in the Kansas City area as well.

Outside of Work

I was born and raised in the Kansas City area and played primarily softball and soccer growing up, although I dabbled in many other sports such as volleyball, basketball, and the “sport” of collecting shoes. To be completely honest, collecting shoes is the only sport I have consistently maintained since I was a teenager besides the annual Corporate Challenge events. I am married to the love of my life, Kyle, whom I met in 2008.

It was truly love at first sight (as corny as that may sound, it really does happen) and we were married less than a year later. We have two sons, Drake and Easton, and I am so blessed to be their mommy.

Any free time I have is usually spent with Kyle and the boys, whether it’s going on walks, playing games, building Legos, racing RC cars, or enjoying the beach and hiking in Kauai, HI where my in-laws live. It is very important to me to be very personable, open, and honest with my patients. At the end of each day, I am privileged to be making a difference in my patient’s lives.

Come see us!
